What Is Assisted Living?

As you consider your retirement living options, it's worth keeping several definitions in mind. It's important to choose the level of care that's right for you.

  • Assisted living — In an assisted living facility, you'll receive personal care and assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting (the ADLs — activities of daily living).
  • Memory care — memory care provides specialized long-term care for residents with dementia, and can support residents with memory loss caused by a number of health problems. Residents that reside in memory care facilitates often have both cognitive and physical impairments.
  • Nursing homes — A nursing home is designed to provide around-the-clock skilled care and medical support.
  • In-home care — A caregiver visits your home and provides the required services.
  • Independent living — An independent living facility is much like a traditional apartment complex. No personal care or ADL assistance is provided.

Cornerstone Court is licensed as an assisted living facility, that provides care to clients with all stages of dementia, as well as individuals that have high physical needs.  Our staff includes licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants, and home care aides. Some staff members are trained to administer medication or have specialized training in dementia, mental health, or diabetes care. Other staff members are enrolled in HCA or CNA education programs and are working towards their certifications.
